Follow the instructions and you should have no problems. We used it recently on some oak chairs using 3/8" fine wire staples from Amazon at 70psi. Like any well made product the Porter Cable Upholstery Stapler is absolutely a delight to use. The 1" long extension is a must for anyone working on upholstery projects.
It did not "misfire" once. Have done various reupholstering projects through the years and had always hand stapled. I highly recommend the tool, at least for home use. It is lightweight and easy to use. What a difference this this tool made. It reduced the time required to complete the project and greatly improved the quality of the work.
Highly recommended. Does not use a lot of air - so you can get by with a small comprssor. Tried all kinds of manual and electric staplers until read reviews on the Porter-Cable. Perfectly staples canvas in various hardness of woods.
It broke because I FORGOT to oil it and the inside rusted.In conclusion take care of your tools and this is an excellent one. I bought this to replace one exactly like it that I have been using for 7 years.
As fast you can pull the trigger the staples are set deep and no jamming. Upon receiving this stapler I was using it within 10 minutes of the UPS delivery. I slapped some 1/2" staples in it and I was off working. Much more efficient and faster.
When working with fabric or some other material it would be a major impediment to have to reposition the stapler, push down and then pull the trigger. When stapling many staples with its current design you can just slide the stapler to the next position pull the trigger and move on. After using it a lot, quite frankly I would find it a nuisance if there was such device. Next, some have commented about a possible safety feature missing in that staples can be freely shot out, (no device needs to be pushed against the object being stapled first).
My wife likes it too.The stapler is of the high Porter-Cable expected quality. First, it is working great and I am very happy. It came with the air fitting already installed. Recommended and the price was very reasonable.Here it is a month later and wanted to add a couple thoughts since first purchase.
This tool is made for working. It has a great ergonomic handle that feels great in your hand and is lightweight. It made short work of my first project and expect many more hours of use.
